Liquid System Flush Water Configuration

Liquid system Flush/Rinse settings may utilize a double air purging of the line at the end of an order. Drivers closing valves before the process has finished will prevent the system flush from completing.

One way to avoid a double purge, applicable to most situations, is to configure a flush water product. This option consists of adding a new product to the system that will be used for flushing, setting it with an air purge time (finishing parameter), and setting all other products to use an air purge time (finishing parameter) of 0.

Step 1

Add a new product to the system in Terminal Management TMX by matching the product used for flush/rinse currently. Name this product “Flush Water” or something else identifiable. A guide for the Product Setup Tool can be found here

Note: Do not add a cross-reference number to the flush water product. Doing so may cause issues with the interface. The flush water product, as described, is only for system use, rather than orders.

Step 2

Update the Flush/Rinse settings in Plant Supervisor PSX on the carrier line(s) to call for the added flush water product.

Repeat for any other panels where double air purging is an issue.

Step 3

Once the flush water product is configured, the air purge setting (finishing parameter) for other products on the panels changed should be updated to 0.

Do so by opening the “Panels” (1) > “Panel Bulk Product Settings” (2) page, and select the panel from the drop-down menu (3). Then for each product besides the purge water (4) set the Finishing parameters to 0 (5) and click Save after each (6).

Summary

The changes described above will ensure that only a single product, the flush water, is responsible for purging the line at the end of an order. Site differences may require adjustments to some steps in this guide. For assistance, contact Kahler Automation Support.
