Flush and Rinse Settings

Flush/Rinse settings allow users to address contamination concerns by adding operations to an order.

Applies to

Liquid systems needing a flush or rinse operation added automatically using either Plant Supervisor PSX or Self-Serve 2

Solution

  • From the configuration menu of either Plant Supervisor PSX or Self-Serve 2, click the "Flush Rinse" settings tab.
  • Select the panel for which flush/rinse needs to be configured.
  • Plant Supervisor PSX or Self-Serve 2 will load any settings and list them in the selection box on the right, under the label "Flush/rinse settings".
    • If adding a new flush/rinse setting, click "Add new" and a new setting will be created and selected.
    • If modifying an existing setting, click on it in the selection box.
  • Pick a product in the dropdown under the label "Product used as Flush/rinse".
    • At the top of the list are bulk products, as well as panel functions that can be triggered by a flush/rinse setting.
    • Product names are shown at the bottom of the list in italics.
  • To the right of the Product selection dropdown menu is the "Amount" setting.
    • If a product is chosen, set the amount of that product to flush or rinse the system, and select the unit.
    • If a timed panel function is selected, set the timing.
    • If a panel function with no configuration is chosen, the "Amount" section will be hidden.
  • Below the "Product used as flush/rinse" section is the timing selection, stating when the flush/rinse should happen.
    • Either the beginning or end of the segment may be selected, controlling whether the operation happens before product is measured or after it is dispensed.
    • Timing can be per load, compartment, batch, or fill/discharge cycle.
      • Load - Least frequent; only occurring once per loading operation.
      • Compartment - Flush/rinse per configured compartment on the prepare load screen.
      • Batch - Batches occur whenever the system needs to subdivide an order to not exceed fill limits.
      • Fill/discharge cycle - Most frequent; occurs when certain products are dispensed as part of the order.
    • If flush/rinsing using a product or bulk product, and the timing is set to "end", "Number of cycles" is shown. "Number of cycles" can also be set to any number, allowing for more though rinsing.
    • The "Include" section, found next to the "Timing" section, controls when the flush/rinse setting is used.
      • "Always" - The flush/rinse setting will be used whenever it is able. Useful when a panel physically discharges into another panel (such as a weigh tank pumping into a carrier line so the carrier line is flushed).
      • "Used to measure any bulk product" - If a panel is used in an order, flush/rinse setting will happen (if a weigh tank is used, flush/rinse).
      • "Used to measure on or more of these bulk products" - Only use the flush/rinse when certain bulk products are measured by the panel for an order (useful if a product requires more rinsing than otherwise configured).
    • The "Close" button on the configuration screen saves any settings changes and exits the configuration window.

Note: Flush/rinse settings will be in addition to products in the order. Plant Supervisor PSX provides an estimate of flush/rinse product added to an order. This total is shown on the “Prepare load” screen, along with the total of the order and flush/rinse amount. Adjust the amount to be dispensed if needed to control the total.
