KA-2000 units require a connection to a meter to function. Losing connection will result in a Meter Response Error.
Applies to:
- KA-2000
A Meter Response Error will prevent a Kahler Automation system from running in automatic. The error is in response to a loss of communication with a required device. This article takes a look at first steps that can be taken to address the issue.
A Meter Response Error indicates that the measuring device(s) connected to the KA-2000 is not communicating. Ensure the meter is powered on and does not display any errors.
Most meters are connected with the scale ports found on the KA-2000. Scale port 1 is found on the bottom side of the KA-2000 at the far left; scale port 2 is found on the left side of the KA-2000 and may not be used. Both scale ports use a locking connector. Ensure the connector is plugged in and locked. Some applications may use a network connection to a meter device; in this case both scale ports are unused.
If everything looks good, try power cycling the meter and note if there is any change. When power cycling equipment, always leave the device unpowered for at least 15 seconds before powering it back up.
Note: A Meter Reported Error indicates a separate issue, caused by the meter reporting an error to the controller and there is no communication issue.
