If there is excessive weight on a scale prior to measuring product a weight on scale error is indicated.
Last Updated: 3/5/2021
Common Causes
- Product left on scale from previous operation
Environment / Applies To
- KA-2000
- Weigh-tanks
- Weigh-hoppers
- Weigh-mixers
Solution Summary
Systems that use a vessel with a scale (weigh-tank, weigh-hopper or weigh-tank) check that the weight reported by the scale is less than a configured threshold (zero limit) before dispensing product into the vessel. This is done to prevent contamination that might be introduced from product that was left in the vessel from the previous operation.
When a weight on scale error is reported, the extra weight in the vessel can be manually removed or ignored.
Removing the product requires operating the system in manual.
If the product is ignored (i.e., the product is not removed from the scale) the weight will not be included in the amounts measured for the products being dispensed. That is, the system will use the weight reported by the scale as a start (or tare) weight and dispense the requested quantity in addition to the start weight. The start weight is not reported on the ticket.
The weight on scale error can be acknowledged and the process resumed.
Tip: The zero limit, configured in the KA-2000, can be increased if this error is being reported for situations where the weight on scale is not a concern.
