Newly installed or refreshed touch screen computers may fail to show the on-screen keyboard when expected, leaving the configured kiosk in an unusable state.
Applies to:
- Touch screen computers, such as TSA panels running Windows 11
A common reason for on-screen keyboards failing to display is application drivers not being installed for the touch screen attached to the panel computer. Symptoms include a cursor appearing after the touch screen is utilized and the device manager not including a “HID-Compliant touch screen” under the “Human Interface Devices” section, as shown in the below image.
Solution
Installing the touch screen drivers and rebooting the computer should resolve the issue. Kahler Automation uses DYNICS machines in their current TSA panels; drivers can be found on this DYNICS support page: https://support.dynics.com/hc/299692258/57/drivers-download?category_id=11
Note: Download the “EETI-Touch Drivers” that match the operating system running on the touch screen computer.
Install the driver and reboot the machine. Test the application to ensure the on-screen keyboard displays as expected.
