Touch screen computer fails to display on-screen keyboard

Newly installed or refreshed touch screen computers may fail to show the on-screen keyboard when expected, leaving the configured kiosk in an unusable state.

Applies to:

  • Touch screen computers, such as TSA panels running Windows 11

A common reason for on-screen keyboards failing to display is application drivers being installed for the touch screen attached to the panel computer. Symptoms include a cursor appearing after the touch screen is utilized and the device manager not including a “HID-Compliant touch screen” under the “Human Interface Devices” section, as shown in the below image.

Solution

Uninstalling the touch screen drivers application eGalaxTouch and rebooting the computer should resolve the issue.

Uninstall the driver and reboot the machine. Test the application to ensure the on-screen keyboard displays as expected.
