Last updated: 3/4/2021

Common Cause(s)

  • Incorrect ticket printer configuration in load-out application
  • Incorrect printer driver or configuration
  • Printer unavailable due to power or connectivity issues

Environment / Applies To

  • Plant Supervisor 4
  • Plant Supervisor PSX
  • Self-Serve 2

Solution In-Depth

This article assumes that the printer driver has been installed and configured on the computer that is running the load-out application.

Verify that the computer can print to the printer

To determine if the problem is limited to the Kahler Automation load-out application, verify that a different application on the computer running Plant Supervisor can print to the printer. Notepad is a good choice for this test since it is installed by default with Windows.

1. Open Notepad

Note: The version of Windows installed on the computer may affect where you find Notepad. Generally, Notepad can be found in "Windows Accessories" in the Windows Start Menu.

2. Type something into Notepad (it does not matter what is typed as long as it will be clear that, if printed, it came from this test)

3. Open the print dialog (File / Print)

4. Select the printer that tickets should print to

5. Click print

If the text entered into Notepad was printed, skip to the section titled computer can print to printer.

Computer cannot print to printer

If the computer cannot print to the printer using Notepad:

1. Verify that the printer is powered on

2. Verify that the printer is connected (connectivity depends on the type of printer, but is typically either a USB connection or a network connection)

3. Verify that the printer driver installed is the correct driver for the model of printer

4. Verify that the printer driver is configured to use the correct connectivity for the printer (USB or network, IP address, etc.)

Note: An IT professional may be required for steps 2 through 4.

Computer can print to printer

If the computer can print to the printer using Notepad, then the issue might be in the printing configuration of load-out application.
