If a database approaches its size limit, a red warning banner appears at the top of Terminal Management TMX webpages.
Applies to:
- Terminal Management TMX version 2.24.19 and later
The banner will read:
The TMX database size is near the limit enforced by SQL Server Express Edition. Please reduce the size of the database (e.g., expunge old order and transaction data) to avoid a disruption in the operation of TMX
SQL Server Express has a maximum database size of 10 GB. Terminal Management TMX now alerts users as the database gets close to the maximum size so that the site does not experience disruptions.
If a database reaches 10 GB in size, a site will experience disruption as new data can no longer be saved. Disruptions may include interfaces failing to import new orders, emails failing to be sent, and tickets may not be saved after dispensing.
The banner includes links that can be used by users with the System Maintenance permission to the Database Information report which details what is contributing to the database size, as well as the Expunge Orders tool which can be used to remove old data from the database, freeing up space.
WARNING:
For more information or assistance, contact Kahler Automation Software Support by calling 507-235-6648 Option 2 or submit an online web ticket.
The Expunge Orders tool is a recommended part of annual system maintenance, and users should be aware of their company’s data retention policies. The Expunge Orders tool deletes data out of the database and should not be done during busy periods. Prior to running, the Expunge tool creates a system backup that should be retained in accordance with data retention policies.
Before considering using the Expunge Orders tool, make sure all software is up to date and that Kahler Automation scheduled tasks are running. Updates and Maintenance tasks may free up space without deleting order information.
