This article will help you understand how to work with signature pad in Plant Supervisor.
Last Updated: 5/21/2021
Signature pads are used to capture an electronic signature from a Driver when they are required to sign for a load dispensed from Plant Supervisor. Signature pads are assigned per bay so that it is possible to have multiple signature pads for each load-out point.
Environment/Applies to
- Plant Supervisor 4 (PS4)
- Plant Supervisor PSX (PSX)
Solution to Enable or Disable
- In Plant Supervisor, navigate to the configuration page (or wrench), then select the Bay settings tab.
- In the Bay Settings tab, select the desired Bay from the drop-down list.
- Options to enable or disable the signature pad are made from the Signature pad drop down list (examples: None, USB, or Com Port #).
- To disable the signature pad, select None.
- To enable the signature pad, select USB or Com Port. This selection will depend on the type of cabling in use.
Troubleshooting:
Tip: If communication or connectivity to the signature pad is a problem, you may be able to resolve the issue by checking or verifying the cable connection between the computer and the signature pad. You may also need to see if Windows Firewall is blocking the signature pad.
A signature pad is connected to the computer in one of two ways, either a USB connection or Ethernet (via a serial to network adapter).
- USB connected.
- Plugs directly into the Plant Supervisor computer. Try reseating the cable connections, swap out the cable with a known good cable or verify the cable works with a different device.
- Ethernet - serial to network adapter.
- The adapter is assigned an IP address. If you know the IP address, you can try pinging it from the Plant Supervisor computer. Instructions here.
- A virtual com port is configured on the Plant Supervisor computer. Check Device Manager on the computer to determine the com port number.
- The com port on the computer should match the com port selected on the Bay Settings tab in Plant Supervisor.
- Check that Windows Firewall is not blocking communication. See this article: How to see if Windows Firewall is blocking a port or program. Scroll to the section titled "How to check if Windows Firewall is blocking a program?."
