Dry Product Blender Settings

Setting Pre-Blend and Blend Times

Applies to:

  • Plant Supervisor PSX

When using Plant Supervisor PSX with a dry tower, the software can be set up to use pre-blending. Pre-blending allows two products to be blended before the rest of the products are added. This is typically used where a dry product must be treated with a chemical before the rest of the dry products are added to a blend.

  1. Open PSX and log in with your credentials. You must have the application configuration privilege to configure PSX.
  2. From the Orders page, click on the wrench icon in the top right-hand corner.

This shortcut opens the PSX configuration screen in a separate window. Two rows of tabs display different features that can be configured.

Configuring Mix Time

Mix time configuration for a dry system controls the minimum time the blender must run for before the operator is presented with the “Dump” button. Blenders will not dump until the dump button is pressed.

  1. The configuration screen should default to the "General" tab. If it doesn’t, select it from the two rows of tabs in the window.
  2. Under the units of measure, there is a box for adjusting the mix time value and a drop-down to specify the unit of time.

Configuring Pre-Blending

From the configuration screen, click on the “Pre-blending” tab.

  1. The first drop-down is the product pre-blend.
  2. The second drop-down is the product that pre-blends with the selection from the first drop-down.
  3. Mix time is the time set for mixing these two products before other dry products and chemicals may be added to the blend.
  4. The mixing time unit of measure must be specified, indicating how many seconds per unit of measure are required for mixing.
  5. Set the minimum period that the pre-blended products must mix.
  6. Set the maximum period that the pre-blended products can mix.

Note: To modify an existing pre-blend setting, select the product from the product drop-down (1) and then update the pre-blend configuration.
